Lighter lines can be carried and packed for weight savings with typical firing voltages, heavier wires are obviously better for sending signals longer distances. The distances in discussion aren't defined, but it was meant in the context of 300 m or less as carried and packed by a man in a field situation. Sloppy wording. My bad.***
