Over 140,000 migrants detained at the US-Mexico border this month

U.S. border authorities have detained approximately 142,000 migrants this month, according to Customs and Border Patrol data shared by Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Thursday. August saw a 60% surge from the daily average seen in July. On Monday, 8,000 people were apprehended for attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
