This fight is one of the great upsets in ring history. Braddock who had been written off by the Boxing community. . Was pulling off the impossible.. An amazing comeback that would take him from obscurity to the world renown richest prize in all sports "The Heavyweight Championship" The thing about soon to be former champ Max Baer. He had physically had all the tools to become one of the greats. But obviously he didn't want it bad enough. To focus the mental discipline needed to become one of the All Time Greats. You see it in Joe Louis who was very focused in his determination compared to Max Baer who loved to clown around One thing i would like to add in Baers defense. He tragically unintentionally killed another fighter named Frankie Campbell in the ring. Which to a guy like Baer . Who had a heart of gold the size of Mount Rushmore. He was deeply affected by this. I think it made him fearful of something like this ever happening again.. Part of Max Baer died along with Frankie Campbell. And he was afraid to cut loose compared to say Joe Louis who was always on a mission to seek and destroy
