Speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres - said the ceasefire has provided respite in Gaza.
But more aid is desperately needed as the healthcare system has all but collapsed.
Guterres has declared Gaza as a place of profound instability, revealing that an alarming 80% of its residents have been displaced due to the escalating conflict. The situation is dire, with intensive negotiations taking place to extend the existing truce. Guterres has consistently stressed the urgency for a ‘true humanitarian ceasefire’, referring to the conditions in Gaza as an ‘epic’ humanitarian catastrophe.
