The Majdanek camp, situated within eye-shot of the city of Lublin in Poland, achieved brief fame in the Holocaust storytellersâ€™ legend immediately after the war, but has since faded away in importance. The reason for this change in status has primarily been a realization amongst the Holocaust â€œexpertsâ€ that the initial burst of propaganda and stories about the camp were so grossly exaggerated that it was damaging to the legend to give Majdanek too much prominence.
