Here's Scottish anti-hero Rab C Nesbitt's first TV appearance on the sketch show Naked Video, way back in 1986. The interesting thing about this clip is that, when describing the socioeconomic woes of the Scottish people, caused by the forced removal of heavy industry, he dares to reference the touchstone for the worst of human sufferinks, The Holocaustâ„¢, daring to describe it as a "skive" and a "doddle" (a "walk in the park") in comparison to the forced poverty that the Scots have been thrown into. It goes without saying that such speech would not be allowed today - not only would Rab C. Nesbitt have not been made into a TV series, but the comedy writer Iain M. Pattison (a very angry young man under the banter) would have been forced to kneel in apology to his overlords, and the BBC Commissioning Editor for the series would have been fired for letting this through. Changed times indeed.
