Peoples' Shared Sacred Stories and the Foundation of Culture

When people ask, "What replaces your religion?" They are not asking, "What replaces your God?" They are asking, "What replaces your culture?" Religion is a reflection of a biological need humans of all races seem to have, and research in various fields has identified this physiologically as the so-called 'god gene.' There really does seem to be a need within humans to order their universe, meaning inherent in the human condition, etc. to find joy out of sorrow, happiness, and categorize lessons learned, etc. within pleasure/pain. You cannot remove this need from humans. You can only remove certain forms of expression of this need, and when done so, people lose their sacred stories and their cultures. They become useless mouths, eaters, and part of a meaningless alien landscape where nothing matters and there is no human soul.
