A royalist song first published during the Interregnum, the song describes the anarchy unfolding in England due to the failure of parliament. The song is sung from the perspective of "the sword", a common allegory for those in power. The song also describes how knowledge and reason were destroyed which is a metaphor for destroying everything to do with the former King (King Charles and his court were well known to appreciate literature and other arts).

This version of the song is made by the band "Strawhead", all their music is available on YouTube.
