North Korea's leader made his first public appearance in more than a month...by visiting Samjiyon.
Watchers note the move is meant to highlight internal economic achievement before the year's end as well as to mark the 10th anniversary of the Kim Jong-un regime.

After keeping a low-profile for over a month, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was back in the public eye... in a visit to the regime's northwestern city of Samjiyon.
Kim made his last public appearance at the North's rare defense exhibition last month.
Located at the foot of Mount Baekdu, Samjiyon is known to be the birthplace of Kim's late father Kim Jong-il, and developing the city has been one of Kim Jong-un's pet projects since 2018.
The North's state media reported Tuesday that Kim praised officials for their loyalty to the project, adding that construction will wrap up this year.
Watchers call the move a way of showing achievements ahead of the end of the first year of the five-year economic development plan,... as well as the 10th anniversary of the Kim Jong-un regime.

"The visit also has to do with development of rural areas. Kim Jong-un has put balanced regional development as an important policy, and the Samjiyon project is a symbol that his policies are working."

Meanwhile, Pyeongyang announced on Monday it is set for the conference of three revolutions' frontrunners, where the regime puts forward practical examples for revolution in ideological, technological and cultural fields.
The event will take place after just six years, an unusual step considering the North had previously staged the meeting every decade.
While Seoul's unification ministry points out these activities are a part of the North's efforts to solidify internal unity to carry out planned tasks, analysts say Kim is expected to put external affairs on hold until the end of the year and instead focus on internal matters.
