Iâ€™ve made a few videos talking about the history and culture of yÅ«jyo, the prostitutes in Japan.
And in the â€œomakeâ€ talk of the video I made about oiran, I briefly introduced the male prostitutes, "kagema."

You might have heard about yÅ«jyo or oiran through anime and manga, but I believe most people do not know about the male prostitutes.
I have to be honest, before I started this YouTube channel, I didnâ€™t know about them myself.
But they actually have their unique history and culture too which is worth studying about.

So today, I will explain about the three main differences between yÅ«jyo and kagema, the female and male prostitutes.

I have received many questions about â€œtayÅ«â€ as well, so Iâ€™d love to talk about who they were, and how they were different from oiran at the end of the video.
