Reuse, Rebuild, Recycle is my mantra. Most of this machine is built using re purposed parts and salvaged junk.
In Episode 2 we look at the machines layout, the physics behind what it does and 'How green is plastic diesel?'
the diesel produced is sulfur free, high grade diesel. Diesel engines were originally invented to burn sunflower oil and be an engine that farmers could use without buying fuel. In the 1920s, Texan Oil Barons created a fuel that was similar and this became the crude oil based diesel that we use today. Most supplies of crude oil based diesel are high in sulfur which creates the black filthy residue in the engines oil. various additives are mixed in to counteract this. Detergents and surficants which reduce the lubricity of the fuel causing wear but keeping it cleaner. Plastic of types 2,3,4, and 5 are sulfur free and make a better cleaner fuel than what we are used to buying. HOWEVER* sulfur free diesel is not good in late model 2006 and onward common rail injection systems. as this series of videos progresses, you will see that the machine can also make kerosine, petrol, naptha and creosote, all from plastic or even waste oil. Safe and effective use of your fractional distillation pyroliser will depend on a good understanding of hydrocarbon science.
