Israel has killed three senior Islamic Jihad commanders in airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on May 9. The Palestinian health ministry said women and four children were among the dead and at least 20 others were injured. The Israeli army said the air attacks, codenamed “Operation Shield and Arrow”, targeted Islamic Jihad and its "weapon manufacturing sites". The strikes are widely condemned by Israel’s neighbours.
