Track 2 from their sixth album "Forever for Now" released in 1977 copyright Aquarius Records. It was recorded at Phase One Studios in Toronto and Tempo Studios in Montreal and was their second produced by Myles Goodwyn. His songs incorporated influences from several different musical styles but critical reviews were poor. It sold moderately at first, climbing to a peak of No. 19 on the Canadian chart. Shortly after "You Won't Dance with Me" became an unexpected hit, selling more copies than any of their previous singles. It was written in the style of a 1950's ballad as an homage to Goodwyn's early musical heroes and its popularity greatly increased sales. Six months after its release, the album peaked at No. 5 on the chart and was certified Gold in Canada. Written and produced by Myles Goodwyn. RIP Steve Lang & Myles Goodwyn. Featuring:

Myles Goodwyn - Lead vocals, rhythm, lead & acoustic guitars, piano, string ensemble & background vocals
Gary Moffet - Lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars & background vocals
Steve Lang - Bass & background vocals
Jerry Mercer - Drums, percussion, vibraphone & background vocals

Not so long ago when I was just a child
I never realized the way I felt inside
And how much you meant to me
How much you meant to me

And I don't think I've ever told you so
And I thought you'd like to know
That now I see and I can understand
I understand

I was unkind, I must have been blind to your sorrow
And night after night, tryin' to live with your sorrow

And I was a bastard and I was wrong
And I was lost in the things I'd done
And I was stealin' just for fun
And it was breakin' your heart

So long ago when I was just a child
I never understood, never realized
How much you meant to me
How much you meant to me

And I don't think I've ever told you so
And I thought you'd like to know
That now I see and I can understand
I understand

I was unkind, I must have been blind to your sorrow
Night after night tryin' to live with your sorrow
I was unsure and lookin' for more, I was anxious
To be on my own, livin' at home I was restless

And I was a bastard and I was wrong
And I was lost in the things I'd done
And I was stealin' just for fun
And it was breakin' your heart
It was breakin' your heart
