Now living and operational in 35 US states, The Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CÃ¡rtel de Jalisco Nueva GeneraciÃ³n) or CJNG, formerly known as Los Mata Zetas is based in Jalisco and led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes ("El Mencho") who seems to have taken the place of â€œEl Chapoâ€ (as the next target of US Law Enforcement https://www.dea.gov/fugitives/nemesio-oseguera-cervantes) but the CJNG is known for diversifying their criminal activity, human trafficking, drug trafficking (cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl) and also stealing crude oil are among their most profitable criminal activities. They have also been known for acts of cannibalism against some of its victims, and sometimes during the training of new sicarios or cartel members. U.S. prosecutors have said operatives of the cartel tried to buy belt-fed M-60 machine guns in the United States, and have even brought down a Mexican military helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade.
