Chinese national Han Junwei's arrest open a can of worms in financial fraud.

Han Junwei a Chinese national was caught by the BSF while he was trying to illegally cross the Indo Bangla border on a non-fenced portion on June 10. The arrest was made on information provided by Sun Jiang, Hanâ€™s associate by the Lucknow Anti Terrorist Squad. The police officials took Han to the place at the border, where he was detained by the BSF, to study how he entered the country. During the interrogation, Han has confessed to the police that he was operating a hotel in Gurugram and has visited India six times, including one at Hyderabad in 2010. In the last one year, he has supplied 1300 Indian Sim cards to his counterparts in China, after smuggling them out of India. His counterparts in China opened shell companies and bank accounts and also operated dummy mobile phone numbers using these SIM cards. The Telangana police is also verifying his involvement in an investment fraud case registered in the city, and his association with a company registered in Pahadisharif. Cybercrime sleuths if Hyderabad and Cyberabad are checking the links of the accused in the Power Bank money investment fraud. The Delhi police recently arrested a gang linked to the fraud amounting to Rs 150 crore. The fraud involved the paying of exorbitant rates of interest on the principal, where clients were lured and also paid these high interests with small principal amounts. Once the investor increased the invested amount, the fraudsters would block the clientâ€™s access to the Power Bank investment app, as quoted by the police. A team from ATS Lucknow is already in Malda to take custody of Han Junwei.
An NGO, seeing the plight of a section of the LGBT community, who are daily wage earners, have extended a helping hand to them. The members of this community, who have been out of work, due to the pandemic, have been given a month worth of groceries to sustain themselves. The beneficiaries were relieved and thankful to the NGO after they received their rations for the month.
Twelve Adivasi men were arrested from the Kumargram Block by the Alipurduar police. The accused had, in the pretext of a Salisi court, made her naked and beat her up. A clip of the incident was also uploaded in social media after which it went viral. The police immediately took action and brought the accosted woman to the police station and lodge an FIR against the accused. The police split up into four teams and arrested the twelve accused within two days. The police produced the accused at the district court and prayed for a remand for fourteen days.
