Zooming in on a boat with my Nikon P1000. Watch it fade away

It's pretty cool watching the effect of a mirage over water and I thought this a good example of how it works the further the boat goes. Obviously there are some variables like atmosphere and weather to consider what is actually happening.

Shot with a Nikon P1000 about 60 centimetres above the water (Tripod was in the water)
