Antisemitic words from rapper Kanye West are prompting concerns among the Jewish community in the Rochester area and across the country.
West's comments sparked outrage across the country and put the spotlight and hateful words.
Demonstrators dangled antisemitic banners over a Los Angeles freeway in support of West's recent attacks on Jewish people.
Mark Henderson, former chief of the Brighton Police Department, now heads security for the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester. He has concerns the same thing could happen here.
"I would like to tell you we're immune from antisemitic negativity and rhetoric here in Rochester, but unfortunately we are not."
Henderson said the most recent attack on the Jewish community in Rochester happened just two weeks ago.
"There were individuals that yelled slurs from the vehicles, talking to them as anti-Jewish and antisemitic as they walked to synagogue," Henderson said. "Unfortunately, it happened in 2022."
