Woman Files Lawsuit Alleging Billionaire Leon Black R.. Her Inside Of Epstein’s Mansion
In a lawsuit, Leon Black is charged with raping a woman in Jeffrey Epstein's home.
A woman filed a lawsuit against Leon Black, the wealthy co-founder of the private equity firm Apollo Global Management Inc., on Monday, claiming that he sexually assaulted her in the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan mansion two decades prior.
Cheri Pierson claimed that when the financier arranged for her to massage Black for $300 in the spring of 2002, she was a struggling single mother who had already offered Epstein five massages for $300 each.
She said that during their rendezvous on the third floor of Epstein's house, Black—who was eight inches taller and weighed more than twice as much as she did—physically overpowered her without her consent and inflicted "excruciating pain."
Susan Estrich, a lawyer for Black, called Pierson's lawsuit "categorically false and part of a scheme to extort money from Mr. Black by threatening to destroy his reputation.... We intend to defeat these baseless claims."
Black is being sued by Pierson in a New York state court in Manhattan for intentional infliction of emotional distress and sexual assault, while Epstein's estate is being sued for carelessness.
Guzel Ganieva, a former Russian model, sued Black for defamation in June 2021, claiming he falsely claimed she sought to blackmail him after accusing him of rape. Guzel Ganieva is represented by Black's law company, Wigdor LLP.
Estrich claimed in a letter dated Nov. 19 to the Wigdor company that "Mr. Black never sexually abused anyone anywhere at any time." She added that if Pierson filed a lawsuit, Black might file a defamation lawsuit or demand penalties.
Requests for comment from Epstein's estate's attorneys were not immediately answered.
Black has a $9 billion net worth, according to Forbes.
Pierson filed a lawsuit under the Adult Survivors Act of New York, a new law that gives alleged sexual assault victims a year to file a lawsuit against their alleged abusers, even if the wrongdoing occurred in the past and the statute of limitations has passed.
Epstein committed suicide in August 2019 while detained in a Manhattan jail cell on charges of sex trafficking.
Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime accomplice of his, is appealing her conviction and 20-year prison term for complicity in Epstein's abuse of young girls.
Pierson claimed that Epstein had introduced her to Black and had called him a someone who might "help" her, perhaps in the form of financial assistance.
After the alleged rape, she said that Black started phoning her and stating he "needed to chat" and felt "bad."
Black allegedly paid Pierson $5,000 to help her pay off her credit card debt after they first met at a bar inside the St. Regis Hotel, according to Pierson.
She claimed that when he later called and stated, "I want to see you," she declined.
