She was arrested under statute 2917.11(B)(2) for disorderly conduct - intoxicated and creating a risk of harm. The statute states that it is unlawful to "engage in conduct or create a condition that presents a risk of physical harm to the offender or another, or to the property of another."
On July 12th, 2024, the charges were dismissed, and she was ordered to pay $117 in court costs. Judge Roubic of the Portage County Municipal Court presided over the case (2024CRB00526K).

A director at Kent State University faced an awkward arrest after calling the police because she needed to use the restroom. Dr. Ellen Glickman, who has been a School Director and Professor at Kent State University’s School of Health Sciences since 1995, was caught on police bodycam outside Nixson Hall around 10:30 p.m. on May 9. She explained that she had just attended the university’s commencement ceremony and couldn’t find the right key, despite having a Master Key to access the bathroom.

The officer, detecting the smell of alcohol, told her he wouldn't let her drive home. Glickman protested, explaining that her access card wasn’t working and that she was trying to use two cards at once. She admitted to having had a drink, emphasizing it was just one and acknowledging the smell of alcohol on her.

After allowing her to use the restroom, the officer waited for her return and asked if she could call someone. Glickman mentioned her husband but refused to call him, insisting that the situation was unacceptable. She argued that she could drive herself, stating, "I'm okay to drive, I have a Tesla," to which the officer responded that the car still required a driver. Glickman then threatened to call his captain.Upon returning, Glickman continued to threaten the officer, who remained unfazed. Another officer arrived, and the first officer explained the situation humorously. Glickman led them across the office, becoming increasingly agitated and exclaiming, "You guys f***ed me up!" Eventually, the officers detained her after she finally agreed to call her husband, but it was deemed too late.

Throughout the ride, Glickman continued to complain and threatened to contact the officer’s commander. She was ultimately detained and charged with being intoxicated and creating a risk of harm, essentially being drunk and disorderly.
