In WW2 Vidkun Quisling collaborated with Nazi Germany to seize power in his home country of Norway. His name is so closely associated with betrayal that his second name became slang for traitor in several languages. His despicable actions sent his own countrymen to the grave but by the end of the war would see him executed.
