It says, 'â€¦geborene Schicklgruber'. That is her real surname, not a concoction.

Her last name reveals that she was in full or part jewess. 'Shicklgruber' is what it looks like â€” a 'shekel grabber'. That is most likely derived from the job title of a tax collector within a commune of jews.
This explanation for her surname is highly probable. Although many want to interpret it as 'a great pit' from German.
Its structure looks yiddish. Authentic German surnames are made of only 1 word. They are Braun, MÃ¼ller, Schmidt, Schneider, Fischer, Weber, etc.

The only exceptions in this list of 100 most popular German surnames are the surnames made up of 2 words ending in '-mann'. All of them meaning hard-working professions, nothing pretentious like 'Goldmann'. Also, their meanings are easily understood.
Normally, non-jew Germans had surnames from that list and other surnames with the same one-word structure. It was the vast assimilation of the jewry that brought in the flood of complex surnames, made of 2 words, ending in '-berg', '-baum', '-stein', etc.
Surname 'Schicklgruber' is both a 2-words surname and a crypto-surname with a shady meaning. It has traits of being the result of the assimilation of jews.

Finally, I will reveal another dimension to these surnames.
These complex surnames are the by-product of the inborn narcissistic tendencies of the jew.
