Hanna Reitsch, born on March 29, 1912, was a German aviator and one of the most celebrated pilots in National Socialist Germany, testing out dangerous new innovations in aviation. Reitsch was also one of the closest friends of Adolf Hitler during World War 2. She died on August 24, 1979.

Reitsch is the only woman awarded the Iron Cross First Class And the Luftwaffe Pilot / Observer Badge in Gold, with Diamonds during World War II. She set over forty (40) aviation altitude and endurance records during her career, both before and after World War II and achieved a number of international glider-plane records that still stand to this day.
