President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday targeting what his administration describes as a rising problem of anti-Semitic harassment on college campuses.
Trump signed the order during the first of two Hanukkah receptions taking place at the White House on Wednesday.
The president has sought to closely align himself with Israel, a move that appeals to many Evangelical voters.
Under the order, the Department of Education will consider the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of anti-Semitism, which can include criticism of Israel when evaluating discrimination complaints under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
Title VI bars discrimination on the basis of race, color and national origin at colleges and universities that receive federal funding.
