Mark Chopper Read - Off With The Ears

The story of Mark 'CHOPPER' Read, the notorious criminal and stand-over man, portrayed in the film by Eric Banner and written and directed by Andrew Dominic, was produced for international release on DVD by IML Digital Media. The 'Extras' footage were events in themselves. Andrew and Eric flew to Tasmania to record first hand, many of Chopper's escapades both in and out of prison. As the beer flowed, the physical demonstrations got more pronounced.
Andrew flew him to Melbourne where we recorded his embellished commentary for the film. His bragging got bolder, to the point where late that night, perhaps following his reflections on the personal information he divulged, our offices had an attempted break-in to retrieve the evidence. Despite repeated calls from the frightened neighbours, the police did not arrive. We installed heavy security the next day - only to find that the security guy knew Chopper really well from his days running a bar where he used to drink. Needless to say, we 'refined the edit and junked the excess' in a Port Melbourne construction site, and everyone went their merry way - as dutifully portrayed on the Chopper DVD.
