Strange creatures of the deep and the myths surrounding them pulse within consciousness. Humans have always lived near the life-giving oceans and seas, rivers and lakes. The peoples of our world have thought on them as both daemon and demon, hero and heroine, representing fallibly flawed humans or the godlike and divine. These tales often contain the universal themes of water, of course. But they often contain the themes of earth, air, and fire, as much as they are of dragons, sea monsters, and mermaids. Despite their universality, narratives also may speak to entire populations and civilizations alone, developed and forged over time within unique temperatures and fires and circumstances and genetically unique, different peoples.
