The eldest of five children, Salomon Buch was born in 1923 in Paris, France. His parents Ephraim and Doba immigrated to France from Warsaw, Poland in the 1920s. Salomon and his sisters were all French citizens but their parents were not. On May 14, 1941, Ephraim was summoned to the local police station.
