Leni Riefenstahls monumentale Dokumentation der Olympischen Sommerspiele 1936 in #Berlin inszeniert das Sport-Großereignis in der Ästhetik des Nationalsozialismus als Kult des Körpers und der Massenornamentik. Im ersten Teil "Fest der Völker" schlägt ein Prolog den Bogen vom antiken Griechenland, wo die olympische Flamme entsteht, nach Berlin, wohin die Fackel durch ganz Europa getragen wird. Die Mannschaften aus aller Welt ziehen ein und Hitler eröffnet die Spiele. Es folgen Leichtathletik-Wettkämpfe, als Höhepunkte die Siege von Jesse Owens, unter anderem im 100-Meter-Lauf und Weitsprung, und der Marathonlauf mit dem Sieg des Japaners Kitei Son.
