Again, Jim wanted to learn what was the problem with his heart, can it be fixed without mega-pharma-meds being thrown at it. He learned NO. His ejection fraction is 35%. Supposed to be 50%. (By the way - CABG - Coronary artery bypass graft.) Knowing you might be at the end of your life is scary. Most of us don't know that we are. For some reason, we think we'll live forever. When Jim said to the discharge nurse when she asked how he was doing, "I'm dead man walking", she said, “aren't we all.” Very philosophical and very true. Loved our medical team, by the way. They were honest, respectful, appreciated our misgivings with the big pharma medical protocol, of which there is no definitive proof of success. The hospitalist even said so.
