Despite his call for peace, love, and tolerance, "Christians" have historically ignored the teachings of their namesake, Jesus Christ, and led the multitudes in beating the war drums. Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) brilliantly illustrates the hypocrisy of many such so-called "Christians" in this short story.
