Homeland once upon a time: Exhibition on Jewish refugees in Shanghai during WWII opens in NYC

Exhibition on Jewish refugees living in the Chinese city of Shanghai during WWII opened Monday at Fosun Plaza in downtown Manhattan, with China’s Consulate General in NY Huang Ping addressing the opening ceremony.

Titled “Shanghai, Homeland Once Upon a Time – Jewish Refugees and Shanghai”, the traveling exhibits from the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum include more than 200 photographs and some 30 pieces of replica memorabilia, telling the story of how Jews, fleeing from Nazi Germany, found a rare safe haven in Shanghai, surviving and thriving in the city.
