The Picture is Karl Heinz Rosch,
During WW2 he, 17 years of Age was stationed at a Barn of a Dutch Farm with a Dutch Family. On his 18th Birthday he was called in the Farmer's wife kitchen who made him a little cake for his Birthday. 
3 days later the Village came under artillerie-attack. While he and his comrades took shelter in the Barn he noticed the two children of the dutch farm family were still playing in the yard, he rushed outside, picked them both in his arms and brought them to the kitchen to safety, on his way back to the barn he got Hit by such a granate, that his bodyparts were even hanging in trees and they had to search his remains. He was never allowed to be a Hero, for 60 years the Family kept this secret from coming out. His parents back in Germany never knew how their Son died by saving 2 little children. When some villagers learned about it and made a Statue to honor him, this Huge ' Controversy' devided the Villagers and was breaking News in the Netherlands.

A dutch tv Channel made a documentary about it and visited his brother after all these years in Germany to tell how Karl Heinz' es life was ended. This Docu which shows the coldness of Political-correctness had a huge impact on me!!!

crawl under the fences and enjoy the Park. Unknown to many: In this part of the Netherlands in the very South having Germany at our borders [and Belgium close by] we are defenitely more german-minded as it were in total opposite to mostly the rest of the Netherlands, especially the Amsterdam-Metropole which are very English and USA minded. My Hometown has a 400 years History with a small Part of Germany, in fact on both sides of the Border we speak the exact accent to this day. @ 12 going to [junior] Highschool I wouldn't say 'shit'. My gym teacher tried to get me out of my comfortzone and called me DeBlondeGermaan. Instead of kind a taking a slight Piss on me because of the still bit hostile atmosphere between Germans and dutch [ sportively the best noticeable in Soccer between both countries forever] I took a Huge Piss on him for standing Proud/Tall and smiling from ear to ear being called that way. Next first History class it was my turn to introduce myself to the Teacher, before saying my Name he Burst in laughing stating: 'Boy if Hitler ever was short of a HitlerJugend-Kid: you would be him.' I returned with a Huge smile and shouted 'THANKS'. Since then that's my Nickname through life...
I lived half my live in Germany, was married for 24 years to a beautiful german girl, went several times behind the Iron Curtain ( DDR / CSSR) and holded my german father-in-Law in my arms when the Berlin Wall fell, the only time I saw him Cry.
