Artificial intelligence has entered the scene. It has transformed how many things are done and is set to continue changing the status quo in many fields. Already, researchers, leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI), have changed the game in health and science, accelerating discovery and launching breakthroughs.

On October 24, as part of Gairdner Science Week 2023, AI researcher and entrepreneur Dr. Demis Hassabis offered insights into where we are with harnessing AI in health and science, where it’s going and and how we move forward in a responsible way. Dr. Hassabis gave a 20-min keynote and then sat down with Shingai Manjengwa, Head of AI Education at ChainML, for a 30-min fireside chat and Q&A.

This event was in partnership with the Public Policy Forum and presented by Telus Health.
